Getting ready for production

Shooting a movie often leads to long, tiring hours. Be sure to eat healthy food and get enough sleep before production begins. You'll need as much energy as you can muster.

Filmmakers tip of the day #1

If possible, shoot any establishing shots, nondescript insert shots, and special effects shots after you complete principal photography (shooting any shots that involve the main actors).

Passion for what we do

"Love what you do, do what you love"

Director Alex Zapata, Photographer Ismael "Lima" Rosario

Be creative

"I wanted to say that as a filmmaker you don't always do what is considered "the norm". Anyone can do what Hollywood does, remake old old movies or rehash the same tired formulas. It takes a "Maverick" to go after the "uncomfortable" films or the "unusual" projects that touch you in a different way. I feel I am one of those filmmakers." -Alex Zapata (Producer/Director/Editor)

Final Cut Pro or Adobe After effects?

For all you video editors out there. Which workflow you guys enjoy better? Final Cut Pro? or Adobe Premiere Pro? I personally like Adobe Premiere Pro when working on bigger projects (Short, Documentary etc...)

For the indie filmmakers out there

So I been reading up and hearing a lot of you guys asking a trillion question about which camera to get or which camera is better. I got one piece of advice for you guys. If you have a script, just get your actors and go out there and shoot! Stop breaking your head about cameras. Yes having a $20,000 would be great but the thing is, there is one thing a lot of us indie filmmakers have in common and that is something called "budget". We find ourselves working with low-to-no budget a lot of the time. Instead of worrying about the kind of camera you should get or use, just do it with whatever camera you have. Remember the camera is just the canvas, it really comes down to the painter.

On a mission!

Having a rough morning? Place your hand over your heart. Feel that? That's called purpose. You're alive for a reason, don't give up.

Give it your all

We have come to live in a world where everybody wants the easy way.  When someone takes the time to create something from the heart and fight for what they want, it means the world to me. Success is just a word unless you go out there and make it happen.
